Obama said perseverance was key, not luck

A recent Sound Off suggesting luck was more important than hard work completely misrepresented what President Obama said to Howard University graduates.

If you actually read his comments from the ceremony at politico.com, you will see that he credits hard work, initiative and imagination to success. He said black graduates will have to work harder to succeed, but that opportunity has never been better.

Luck does play a role, but perseverance is the key quality to goal achievement.
