We should be ashamed for besmirching Christ's name

Was Jesus a bigot? Did Jesus preach hate? Did Jesus offer salvation only to the select few, dooming all others to hell? No.

Yet, in the name of Jesus, the state I love and call home has besmirched the name of Christ by passing a law allowing open discrimination against our homosexual brothers and sisters.

Shame on us. I am ashamed. Every person in this state who claims to be a Christian should be ashamed.

"Stop judging, that you may not be judged. For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you." (Matthew 7:1-2)

I fear for you, my Christian brothers and sisters, who endorse this vile law as Christian. I fear the judgment you pass upon our gay brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, friends and neighbors will be the same judgment passed upon you.

We are all sinners. We all need Christ's mercy.

If your church endorses this bill as Christ's will, I say to you, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves." (Matthew 7:15). You are being duped.

Phil Bryant and those who support this law are not Christian. They are wolves in sheeps' clothing, luring us to slaughter. We should all be ashamed.

And to all of my gay brothers and sisters in Christ, as you all are, I simply say to you, "Forgive them, for they do not know what they do." (Luke 23:34).
