EDDIE COLBET: Gifts of kindness are the most memorable

I have often seen this kind of thing on Facebook or the Internet, but I have never experienced this act before. This Christmas, I was coming back from visiting my son and family, and I stopped at Waffle House on Cedar Lake Road in Biloxi for a cup of coffee and chocolate pie.

A gentlemen named Chris waited on me. When I finished, I went to pay for my food, and I got this note, which touched me very deeply:

"Your bill was paid in full for services to our country! Thank you and God bless. Merry Christmas!"

I will treasure this note the rest of my life. There are people who care for veterans. God Bless the Cedar Lake Waffle House and Chris, the waiter.

EDDIE COLBET, U.S. Army
