BOB USEY: Be vigilant, safe this holiday season

The president of our United States was in Paris recently making speech after speech about the environment. On the other hand, Islamic terrorists and sympathizers of the same ideology are now threatening our homeland.

Yet, the president and others of like mind in our government seem to think that if we somehow agree with China, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, etc. to become better stewards of the environment, everything is going to be OK.

On the contrary, the United States of America is on a downward spiral regarding respect from other countries.

If you haven't noticed, the other countries mentioned herein and many more just don't care about environmental issues

The recent slaughter of 14 Americans, and the serious wounding of over twice that number in California, should be a wake-up call to all Americans that such attacks on the homeland are imminent and should not be taken lightly. Federal, state and local law enforcement officials do a creditable job throughout the year in assuring us that we can move about each day doing what anyone should be able do within a free society.

With the Christmas holidays here and the many soft targets available to those who wish to cause harm, hopefully each of us will become more vigilant, and if we see something that doesn't seem right, then we should immediately report it to the authorities.
