HANK ROBERTS: Hire Mississippi contractors for in-state projects

I read in the paper that solar farms are to be installed on the Gulf Coast.

These farms will be of great use to the citizens who live here. My only question: Why do we always let contracts go to out-of-state contractors when we have local businesses who could do the same job?

3rd Rock Energy Solutions is a solar business that has been in business on the Coast for several years. Rather than having them do the installations, and keep all taxes and revenues here locally, the contracts were let to companies who are out of state, where they will take their profits.

Mississippi will never pull itself from the bottom of the country's rankings if it continues to send our work to out-of-state businesses.
