ANTHONY L. DAWSON: Veterans deserve respect, health care

Veterans Day is a day we thank and honor men and women who have served in the U.S. military. What better way to thank veterans than to ensure they receive the health care and support services they have earned?

Readjusting to civilian life isn't easy for some veterans, but the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System can help to make that transition smoother. We are ready to assist veterans of all eras through coordination of care and specialized services and personnel.

At the GCVHCS, we are committed to our mission of providing quality health care to veterans. This commitment was recently recognized by the Joint Commission, which awarded full accreditation to the GCVHCS following an unannounced survey in September. The survey team recognized our culture of quality, safety and transparency. It is our duty to provide veterans with quality health care, and it's a duty we take seriously.

Please encourage veterans to enroll for VA health care by visiting any GCVHCS facility, by calling 800-296-8872 or by visiting biloxi.va.gov and clicking on "Become a Patient."

It is now our turn to serve them.

ANTHONY L. DAWSON,

Director, Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System, Biloxi
