Readers views: March for Life + John Bolton’s motives
Better coverage needed
Some say that as much as 80 percent of our media tends to be anti-Trump, pro-Democrat party, pro-abortion, etc.
Journalist Mark R. Levin deals with this in his well-documented best-seller “Unfreedom of the Press.” The problem at times is not so much that the coverage is slanted, but that it fails to present the whole picture.
A typical example of this is the lack of media coverage of the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. Our newspaper, this year and last year, gave coverage to a Women’s March in D.C., but nothing was reported in the printed edition about the big Jan. 24 March for Life. Many thousands of Americans and others, including several busloads of young people and their adult sponsors from here on the Mississippi Coast, participate in the march, which is the largest pro-life rally in the United States and apparently in the world.
This year, the 47th annual March since the 1973 Roe vs Wade decision had a special feature, the presence of our president at the big gathering on the mall before the actual march. President Trump is the most pro-life president we have ever had and he spoke eloquently to the march participants. Why no coverage?

Doing their job
The rule of thumb in Washington, D.C., has always been that cabinet members wait until the administration they served under moves on to publish their disparities. John Bolton knows this, and is using his book to gain notoriety and sales.
Mr. Bolton is a career lobbyist and known for being a war monger. His hatred for Iran is known by speeches he’s made, as well as Afghanistan and Iraq. No one has actually read his manuscript with the exception of the NSC, and of course the leaker. Since the beginning of the Trump presidency there has been a overwhelming number of leaked documents inside the beltway. The main leaker being Adam Schiff, who during the Mueller investigation ran to media on almost a daily basis stating “oh we got him now,” referring to the president. Truth be told, he’s behind everything we’re seeing today. He is taking on the task of single-handedly taking down a duly elected president. He has undermined the entire election process.
When it comes to foreign policy the president holds the executive role over everyone in D.C., including Schiff. What we need as a nation is to let the voters decide in November who will be in charge of foreign affairs, not partisan politics, or political theater which we are witnessing. Congress and the senate should be doing the job they were elected to do, working for the good of America.

Judging character
In the Jan. 26 letter titled ‘Trump’s Actions’ the writer asked, speaking of Donald Trump, “who can continue to support a man of such low character?” Does the writer suggest that the many millions of us who support Donald Trump are of low character?
Two historical examples demonstrate the significance of this question.
One of the greatest leaders in history was King David who killed the Philistine giant, Goliath, to defend his nation. Later David was anointed as King then conquered Jerusalem, taking the Ark of the Covenant into the city and establishing the kingdom. David commits adultery with Bathsheba, leading him to arrange the death of her husband Uriah the Hittite.
Another example of low character was Emperor Constantine, a leader of divided Rome. As other Romans, Constantine persecuted Jews and Christians, as exemplified by thousands of crucifictions and other heinous acts.
So let’s see what Constantine contributed to a more peaceful world today.
In October 312. two rival Roman Emperors, Constantine and Maxentius, met at the Milvian Bridge in Rome. Constantine reportedly saw a vision before the battle which persuaded him and his army to paint the symbols of Christianity on their shields. Constantine won the battle and reunited Rome. A year later Constantine issued the Edict of Milan, declaring that from now on Christianity would be an official religion of the Empire.
Without the actions of David and Constantine, we likely would not have a world to consider character today. Who should judge?
