It’s time to put flag issue to rest
The vast majority of Mississippians support the state flag and the state Legislature has spoken on it. That should be the end of it.
They say some are offended by it. That’s fine, but there is no legal protection against being offended. Some would be offended by my preference for white eggs.
They say it is a symbol of hate. My grandfather’s brother was a surgeon in the Union Army. He treated wounded soldiers regardless of the uniform. No hatred here.
I have perused the official annals of the Civil War. I do not find the word “hate” in them.
It is time to put this to rest.
It is a beautiful flag. I fly it under Old Glory.
