River levels rising in South Mississippi

Wolf River above Gulfport

Latest: 5.5 feet at 1 p.m.

Flood stage: 8 feet (major flood stage is 15 feet)

Forecast: Crest at 14 feet Thursday night

Impact: At 15 feet, major flooding of the area will occur. Several homes on Magnolia Drive will be flooded along with business structures along Menge Avenue. The Menge Avenue bridge will be under water. Water will be in several homes along the river near the Bells Ferry Road bridge. Bells Ferry Road will be closed within a mile of the bridge as the road will be covered by swift moving river current. At 12 feet, water will be in several homes along the river near the Bells Ferry Road bridge. Biloxi River at Lyman

Latest: 15 feet at 1 p.m.

Flood stage: 12 feet

Forecast: Crest at 16.5 feet Thursday night

Impact: At 16 feet, major flooding will occur in Retreat and Riverland Village Subdivisions at the 16 foot stage. Homes on lower Fisherman Trail will remain flooded and lower River Road will be impassable. At 17 feet, there will be major flooding on Lorraine Road near the Lorraine Road bridge. Major roads will be closed including Lamey Bridge Road and Old Highway 49 at the Little Biloxi River. Major flooding will occur in Retreat and Riverland Village Subdivisions.

Pearl River near Pearl River

Latest: 14.9 feet at 4 p.m.

Flood stage: 14 feet

Forecast: Crest at 16 feet Sunday

Impact: At 16 feet, lower portions of streets in River Gardens Subdivision will begin to flood. Secondary roads to the river and throughout Honey Island Swamp will remain inundated. Property in the vicinity of the gage is flooded threatening about 20 homes along the left bank. The Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge will be closed to hunting at the 15.5 foot stage. East Hobolochitto Creek near Caesar

Latest: 15.7 feet at 3:45 p.m.

Flood stage: 15 feet

Forecast: 16 feet Friday night

Impact: At 17 feet, moderate flooding in areas near the stream in Picayune; water will be in garages of several homes between Mississippi 43 and Beech Street bridge; Northwood Drive will be impassable with some homes flooded. At 15 feet, water over a few roads in the city of Picayune will cause traffic problems; school bus traffic may need alternate routes; a few homes on Northwood Drive will be threatened. Beech Street and Westchester Subdivision below the confluence of the east and west branches is subject to flooding in low places.

West Hobolochitto Creek near McNeill

Latest: 14.5 feet at 3:45 a.m.

Flood stage: 15 feet

Forecast: Crest at 15 feet Thursday night

Impact: At 15 feet, some secondary roads near the stream north of Picayune will be inundated. Beech Street and Westchester Subdivision below the confluence of the east and west branches will be subject to flooding in low places.
