The winter storm is gone. But it’s not going to get above freezing for too long

A winter storm brought frigid temperatures as well as ice and some small accumulations of winter precipitation to the Coast on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

And while temperatures are expect to get above freezing on Wednesday, they’re not here to stay.

“The high for Wednesday is expected to be about 36 degrees,” said Tim Erickson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in New Orleans. “But it’s not going to last for very long.”

Ice also could still be a problem overnight and Thursday morning, the weather service says.

The low for Wednesday is forecast at 19 degrees. Highs on Thursday should reach into the mid 40s.
