A tornado warning for the Pascagoula area has been issued.

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a tornado warning for Central Jackson County in Southern Mississippi until 3:45 p.m. At 3:10 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Hickory Hills, or near Moss Point, moving Northwest at 35 mph. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

There certainly will be the potential for more tornadoes throughout the evening as Hurricane Nate approaches landfall, said Bob Wagner with the National Weather Service in Slidell.
