Flood warnings in effect throughout South MS. Flooding rivers, timing listed

After days of heavy rain, flood warnings are still in effect for a number of South Mississippi rivers, but chances of rain are lowering for the weekend, the National Weather Service says.

Numerous rivers and streams are expected to flood, covering roads and, in some cases, creeping into homes.

Warmer temperatures also are in store. The heat index will approach 100 degrees on Saturday, rising to up to 102 degrees Sunday and Monday, the NWS says. The NWS headline: “Drier and hotter this weekend, wet again next week.”
