Will it rain on MS Coast Mardi Gras parades this weekend? Here’s the latest

Forecasters are tracking the chance that storms and rain could damper Mardi Gras parades scheduled to roll this weekend across the Mississippi Coast.

The National Weather Service said a first round of bad weather could arrive during the day on Saturday. Another line of storms could hit overnight and linger into Sunday morning.

The forecast’s timing and specific threats were still unclear on Tuesday.

“We’ve just been telling everybody, keep an eye on the forecast,” said Danielle Manning, a forecaster at the National Weather Service in Slidell.

The storms could bring heavy rain and a few severe storms from New Orleans to the Mississippi Coast. On Tuesday, forecasters said confidence was increasing that a storm system would impact the region.

The forecast for rain comes on a busy Mardi Gras weekend across the Mississippi Coast. Five parades are scheduled Saturday across Biloxi, Diamondhead, Pascagoula and Gulfport. Three parades are set to roll Sunday in Pass Christian, Gulfport and D’Iberville.
