Flash flood warnings issued by weather service as stormy weather hits South Mississippi
Stormy weather is rolling through South Mississippi Sunday afternoon, prompting a series of weather warnings.
A flash flood warning is in effect until 6:30 p.m. for Bay Saint Louis, Waveland and Pearlington, the National Weather service said in a post on the social media platform X, formally known as Twitter. Two inches to three inches of rain have already been recorded in southern Hancock County, and up to 3 inches more is possible.
A similar warning is in place for Ocean Springs and Latimer until 6:15 p.m.
The NWS is also watching flash flood emergencies in Hurley, Wade and Big Point, all in Jackson County, until 4:30 p.m.
At 2 p.m., the weather service said a tornado was spotted in Vancleave, near Old Fort Bayou Road and Jim Ramsay Road.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the weather.
