Update: Tornado warning for part of Jackson County extended to 6 p.m.
The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a tornado warning for Big Point and Hurley in Jackson County until 6 p.m. Saturday.
At 5:24 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Big Point, or 8 miles northeast of Escatawpa, moving north at 25 mph
The weather service warns that flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter.
Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur, and tree damage is likely.
Earlier Saturday, the storm knocked out power to some Coast Electric customers in Harrison County.
