Severe weather expected Tuesday for 3rd time in 3 weeks. Here’s the MS Coast forecast.
The Mississippi Coast is at risk for severe weather for the third time in three weeks.
A storm system moving through the Gulf South region is expected to bring severe thunderstorms, strong winds and excessive rain beginning early Tuesday morning.
Hancock, Harrison and Jackson Counties on the Coast face a slight risk of severe weather, according to the National Weather Service, meaning scattered severe thunderstorms are possible.
The NWS says the bad weather is expected to start around 4 a.m.
The worst for Harrison County will likely start at 7 a.m. and effects will be felt on the Coast until about 1 p.m., said Rob Dambrino, deputy director for Harrison County emergency management and Homeland Security.
“The main threats will be winds up to 60 mph and rainfall up to 3 inches, though tornadoes and hail will also be possible,” Dambrino said in a press release.
Two tornadoes touched down in Jackson County last week, and thousands across the Coast lost power briefly during severe weather.
