Lost electricity during Hurricane Zeta? Check power outage maps on MS Coast

Hurricane Zeta continued to intensify before landfall Wednesday in southeastern Louisiana, with the Mississippi Gulf Coast under storm-surge and hurricane warnings.

The Mississippi Coast could see 7-11 feet of storm surge, Category 1 winds of 90 mph and 3-4 inches of rain, when Zeta is forecast to make a second landfall here.

Severe weather can often cause power outages.

As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, Mississippi Power had 1,930 homes without power in Jackson County, another 414 in Harrison County and 23 in Pearl River County.

Coast Electric reported 2,216 power outages in Hancock County, 383 in Harrison County and 187 in Pearl River County.

Singing River Electric had an additional 884 outages in Jackson County and 135 in Harrison County.

Customers can check outage maps in real time, and get updates on interruptions and estimated time of repair: Mississippi Power, Coast Electric Power Association and Singing River Electric Cooperative.
