Cars take a risk, drive through Cristobal surge near Coast casinos. Not all made it.

At least one car stalled out as vehicles drove through a flooded U.S. 90 Sunday afternoon near Hard Rock Hotel Casino in Biloxi.

The flooding overtook multiple parts of the highway across the Coast. The Mississippi Department of Transportation closed U.S. 90 in Harrison County from the Bay St. Louis bridge to the Biloxi Bay bridge.

Water began to rise quickly in front of the Hard Rock and in their parking garage. The Sun Herald saw one Mercedes sedan stall in the water as it tried to drive up the casino’s valet entrance.

Harrison County has encouraged motorists to stay home as flooding continues across the Mississippi Coast. A flood warning is in effect for the three Coastal counties until 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Other video footage showed flooding near Silver Slipper Casino in Hancock County and Golden Nugget in Biloxi.

Casinos did not close for Tropical Storm Cristobal.
