Blue Bell recalls ice cream from some MS stores. Here’s where and why
A limited number of Blue Bell Ice Cream half gallons have been recalled from grocery stores in Mississippi and 15 other states after a labeling mistake that could be life-threatening to some people with nut allergies.
Moo-llennium Crunch ice cream was mistakenly put in cartons labeled for Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream with Moo-lllennium Crunch lids at a Texas plant, Blue Bell said in an Aug. 22 news release.
Unlike the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavor which is nut-free, Moo-llennium Crunch includes pecans, almonds and walnut pieces, according to the company’s website.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds, walnuts, and pecans run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” according to the recall notice.
A Blue Bell employee noticed the wrong packaging while restocking a store, the company said, adding that no other incorrect packaging has been found.
According to the release, no “illnesses or adverse reactions” related to mistakenly labeled ice cream have been reported
