MS folks are afraid they’ll lose these jobs to AI the most, survey says
As the use of artificial intelligence continues accelerating, many Mississippians are questioning how it will impact the job market, according to a recent survey.
The survey — published in July by Careerminds, a global outplacement service — asked 3,034 people across the country about their fears regarding AI replacement in the workplace.
“There’s a quiet existential crisis happening in the cubicles of America,” Raymond Lee, president of Careerminds, said in an Aug. 20 news release. “People used to worry about being replaced by a younger hire; now they are worried about being replaced by code.”

Mississippi wasn’t the only state where Technical Support Agents were the most worried about AI replacing them, according to the survey.
Technical Support Agents in New Mexico and Wisconsin share similar fears as Mississippi professionals in the same role, the survey found. According to experts, people in these roles face pressure to stand out as aspects of their work become automated.
“The concern here seems tied not just to job loss, but to whether the value of their expertise will remain visible,” experts said in the survey results.
