How to watch Gov. Tate Reeves sign bill to take down Mississippi’s state flag

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves will sign a bill at 5 p.m. Tuesday that will take down the current state flag and begin the process of selecting a new one.

If you want to watch the signing, Mississippi Public Broadcasting will have livestream video available on its TV affiliates across the state and on its Facebook page.

The Mississippi State Legislature passed the bill over the weekend with a veto-proof majority in both the House and the Senate.

Reeves had long objected to removing the Confederate emblem from the state flag, saying the banner could only be changed through a vote by all Mississippians.

On Saturday, Reeves changed course and announced he would sign the bill if it passed.

The state flag already has been removed from atop the capitol building in Jackson, and many local governments across the state have taken it down.
