Lockdown lifted after active shooter reported on Jackson State University, school says
There was an active shooter on the campus of Jackson State University after 11 a.m. Wednesday, the school tweeted.
But the lockdown was lifted and was “no longer under threat” by 12:06 p.m.
Jackson Police Department tweeted at 11:53 a.m. that it was investigating a shooting in the 1100 block of Lynch Street, which runs through campus.
A male non-student was shot in the leg across the street from the student center, university spokesman L.A. Warren told media.
There was a single shooter who was not a student, a university police officer told the Clarion Ledger.
The suspect was in a black Honda Accord with the license plate number MAC 0214, the school said.
Jackson State initially tweeted that everyone on campus should take shelter immediately.
