These Trader Joe’s chicken patties could be crunchy. And that’s why they are recalled

Nearly 100,000 pounds of raw ground chicken patty products sold at Trader Joe’s nationwide have been recalled because they may be contaminated with “extraneous materials,” according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service recall alert issued Wednesday.

Blame it on bones.

Some 97,887 pounds of the raw ground chicken meat produced by Innovative Solutions of Kent, Washington, and shipped and sold nationwide could have pieces of bone mixed in with the patties, the agriculture department found.

Innovative Solutions had fielded calls from consumers complaining of finding bones in the chicken burgers.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions. But the agency is “concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers.”
