Trump — the name the MSGOP shall not speak

While no Mississippi Republican has formally joined the chorus asking Donald Trump to tone down his rhetoric or the growing list of Republicans openly denouncing him, the MSGOP isn’t exactly shouting his name from the rooftops.

Across the country, a growing number of Republicans are worried about Trump’s comments on Russia, NATO and the father of a Muslim-American soldier killed in action.

Gov. Phil Bryant, who a couple of weeks ago announced Trump would be coming to the Jackson area later this month, didn't mention the GOP candidate's name once when he spoke to a Legislative Luncheon in Biloxi on Wednesday.

Then Thursday, the MSGOP sent this curious press release mocking Democratic Leader Bobby Moak for supporting Hillary Clinton.

What's so curious? Not a single mention of the GOP standard bearer.

Even the Gallo Radio Show, the subject of the press release, wasn’t focused on Trump, at least not when Moak was on. No, they were mostly talking about the Mississippi state flag. Host Paul Gallo, for the record, is open about his support for the GOP nominee.

I thought it was strange when I went to a watch party to watch the Harrison County Republican Club watch Trump give his acceptance speech and there wasn't a single GOP office holder in the crowd.

I asked one. The elected official has "totally had it" with the election. That official also avoids Facebook because of all the superheated political rhetoric. Again, not a single mention of Trump.
