Another performer scheduled for the Coast has spoken out against Mississippi's "marriage freedom" law but she isn't backing out of her show.
Belinda Carlisle said the show will go on Saturday at the IP Casino Resort asnd Spa. But, the Go-Gos singer took a shot at Gov. Phil Bryant in a letter in the meantime.
"As the very proud mother of a gay child, I can't imagine anything less Christian than using the law as a weapon against others," she said in the letter she released to GLAAD.org. "Because of my career as a performer and the privilege that has brought to our family, my son will be all right, but the pain you're causing LGBTQ Mississippians is devastating, especially the transgender folks and LGBTQ people of color who will be most directly impacted by these attacks."
Carlisle, known for "Heaven is a Place on Earth," told GLAAD performing Saturday will be a "show of support for LGBT Mississippians, particularly trans people and people of color."
