Mississippi is on the bottom 10 in the latest Gallup Job Creation Index.
According to Gallup's study, 37 percent of employees said their employer was hiring and 13 percent said their employers were laying people off for a job creation index of 24, the same as Louisiana, Montana and New Mexico. It was far better than Alaska, heavily reliant on the energy sector, which came in last with an index of 12.
