Morning, Joe. Now tell us about the Democratic candidate

It was one of those breathless emails both sides use to produce a nonevent.

"This morning, Mississippi Republican Party Chairman Joe Nosef will appear on NBC's "Today Show" at 7 a.m. CST and MSNBC's "Morning Joe" at 7:30 CST to discuss Mississippi's gubernatorial race and Gov. Phil Bryant's strong case for re-election," read the heads up for MSGOP this morning.

Well, it looks like Joe has been flim-flammed. He was on all right. For a few seconds -- however long it took to say, "I just wouldn't have known who Robert Gray was."

Former Gov. Haley Barbour also was on -- about twice as long. And he too never got to mention Bryant. He did talk about Gray.

And there was Gray for most of the rest of the three-and-a-half minute segment. And Gray's mother. And his sister. And his truck "Old Faithful." And the reason he was running and what he would do if elected.

As for as discussing Bryant "strong case" for re-election -- Reporter Willie Geist did flash Bryant's mug on the screen for a few seconds while telling the audience how little money Gray raised compared to the $2.8 million Bryant has on hand.
