The Mississippi Commission on the Status of Women would like to see more women involved in government.
To that end, it is encouraging women interested running for office to attend its Ready to Run seminar Oct. 23 at the state Capitol, said Executive Director Rosalind Rawls in a press release.
It will offer women tips on campaigning, seeking judicial, legislative and local offices, managing social media and navigating the political landscape.
The event will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 23 in Room 113 of the State Capitol. The program is in partnership with the Women and Applied Politics program at Rutgers University and costs $25.
Gov. Phil Bryant declared Oct. 23 as Ready to Run day to encourage more women to seek public office, the commission said.
