Choices. Choices. You have more entertainment choices than cable TV.
Wednesday morning, you could go to Jones County where the first public hearing will be held at 9:30 in circuit court for the Chris McDaniel election challenge. McDaniel wants the court to name him the winner even though official results show him losing by thousands of votes. This hearing is to schedule subsequent court dates.
But you won't be able to get to Jones County and back to any of the locations for the protest of Sen. Thad Cochran's support of the import-export bank at 10 a.m. If Congress doesn't extend the bank's authorization by the end of September, it will cease to exist.
The South Mississippi Tea Party says it will protest at Cochran's Gulfport office.
McDaniel's out-of-state supporters at FreedomWorks are pushing protests in Oxford and Jackson. But there is just one hitch with the Tea Party version, it apparently has no coordinator.
I'll let the Tea Party email take it from there:
If you want to be involved, Senator Cochran's Gulfport office is located at 2012 15th St. #451 in downtown Gulfport. The protest will last from 10:00 to 11:00 am. It will only be effective if you are there, so please make every effort to attend. Bring friends and signs. If you would like more information, go to www.freedomworks.org and scroll down to the article on the left hand side with Sen. Cochran's picture. If you would like to be a coordinator for the Gulfport protest, please call 228-222-2902 and leave a message with your name and phone number as this voicemail does not have caller ID.
If you're wondering what would Tea Party favorite Ronald Reagan would do. He signed a reauthorization in 1986. Not that he didn't have some reservations. He wondered if it was too restrictive, if some of the Marxist-Leninist countries barred from participating had shaken off the shackles of socialism and if Tibet had been mistakenly labeled a country rather than a part of China.
But my favorite is from the Madison Project, another McDaniel supporter, and its chief Jim Ryun, in his youth a world-class runner and the last American to hold the world record in the mile. Apparently he's running out of money. I'll let him explain:
I have some BIG news to share with you!Conservative Chris McDaniel defeated liberal Senator Thad Cochran by 10,000 votes in the Mississippi GOP Runoff last June.
But the corrupt Republican Party of Mississippi is about to declare Senator Thad Cochran its official nominee anyway...
...unless you and I do something about it.
Please make a contribution of $35 today so we can stop the Establishment from stealing this election.
Not to be outdone, the Establishment, in the former of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, wants your money too.
The NRSC explains how money talks:
Tell Harry Reid that you’re fed up with Congress. It’s time for new leadership.
Will you stand with us to elect a Republican Senate majority?
