Gulfport redistricting likely to bring major shifts

The Gulfport City Council is pondering redistricting maps from a consultant and has a preferred map (attached). Anita Lee has a report on this in today's Sun Herald.

Only one of the city's seven wards -- Ward 1 in West Gulfport -- would be spared a major shift to deal with major population variances. The current variances between wards right now is as high as 61 percent.

The preferred map would put two current council members, Ricky Dombrowski and Libby Milner Roland in the same, new, beachfront ward.
