Dan Cuevas defeats incumbent Beverly Martin in Harrison County supervisor’s race
After controversy surrounding his wife’s involvement in his political campaign, Dan Cuevas defeated incumbent Beverly Martin in the race for Harrison County Supervisor District 1.
Cuevas received 1.795 votes (52%) to Martin’s 1,630 (48%) in the Republican primary. These are unofficial numbers, as absentee votes still need to be counted. No Democratic challenger awaits in the general election.
Cuevas’s win comes after he had to scrub his wife, WLOX-TV meteorologist Carrie Duncan, from his political campaign as ordered by Gray Television, WLOX’s parent company, the Sun Herald previously reported.
There were several hot races in the Harrison County primary election on Tuesday, including Matt Haley’s win over Louis Elias for Harrison County sheriff.
