Jackson County elects sheriff, plus results from other local races in MS Coast primary

Jackson County voters have spoken, and John Ledbetter will soon be able to remove “interim” from his sheriff’s role.

Ledbetter, who took over the post for Cong. Mike Ezell, received 65% of the vote in the 2023 Mississippi primary election on Tuesday night.

Since there are no Democratic challengers, the Republican Ledbetter will be the next sheriff in the Mississippi Coast county.

Residents also chose Tate Reeves and Delbert Hosemann over Republican challengers for the general election in November.

Tate Reeves received 11,152 votes, while Delbert Hosemann received 8,811 votes.
