Runoff election set Tuesday in Jackson County for District 2 supervisor, judge
The runoff election is Tuesday in parts of Jackson County.
A runoff will determine whether Moss Point Alderman Ennit Morris or former state Rep. Mitch Ellerby wins in the special election for District Jackson County supervisor in District 2. The winner will fill the unexpired term of Melton Harris, who died in office in July.
Morris led in the four-way race on Nov. 3, with 655 votes , or 28%, followed by Ellerby with 575 votes, or 24.4%.
Runoffs occur when no single candidate gets 50% plus one vote.
A runoff also will be held in the Justice Court District 2 race between retired state trooper Terrence Packer, who led with 47% of the vote, and community leader Karen Payne Fountain, who had 41%.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
