People buy, wear Trump swag to hear GOP presidential hopeful rally in Biloxi

BILOXI -- Rosemary Slate loved working as Donald Trump's chief concierge at the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City for a decade.

"He was wonderful," the Diamondhead resident said.

She worked for him from 1990 to 2000 and was featured on the cover of The Atlantic about her job.

When she heard the Republican presidential candidate was coming to Biloxi, she jumped at the chance to hear him speak.

Slate joined thousands Saturday at the Coast Coliseum, who started lining up as early as 7:30 a.m. to hear Trump tell the Coast how he plans to "make America great again."

Robin Williams of Woolmarket was at work when she heard about Trump's Biloxi visit. She got home at 4:30 p.m. and had gotten her tickets by 5 p.m.

She's been a fan of Trump since 2011 when he considered running for the GOP nomination. "He's one of us, and he's for everyone," Williams said.

Ralph Cahill of Soso brought a lime-green stretch Hummer limousine to the Coliseum on Saturday, covered in Trump posters. People couldn't miss it as they walked up to get in line and often stopped for photos or selfies in front of it.

"I printed those (posters) last night," he said. "I got on Google and downloaded them. I thought it'd be cool to put them on each window."

Many in the crowd bought buttons, scarves and hats from vendors selling Trump swag outside the Coliseum.
