‘1894-2020’: Celebrities, top lawmakers, more react after Mississippi state flag vote

Mississippi lawmakers made history Saturday afternoon after the House and Senate both voted to suspend rules so a bill can be considered to remove the state flag with the Confederate emblem.

The two-thirds majority vote to suspend the rules by both chambers all but assures that Mississippi will finally take down a flag that has historically divided the state.

Coast lawmakers, journalists, celebrities and top officials took to social media to speak out about the vote.
