28-year-old woman found dead in closet, Virginia police say. Now, man charged
A Virginia man is accused of killing a 28-year-old woman whose body was found in a closet, police said.
David Anderson, 30, was arrested June 2 after being identified as a suspect in the death of Imani Parrish, the Newport News Police Department said in a June 3 news release. He was charged with first-degree murder, police said.
According to an affidavit, Parrish didn’t answer her 10-year-old son’s calls and texts earlier that day, which was unusual, so her mom sent her partner to check on her, the Daily Press reported.
Her mom’s partner — who was considered a father figure to Parrish, according to an online obituary — found her body in a closet, wrapped in a bloody comforter, the Daily Press and WAVY reported.
Officers arrived at the apartment at about 9 p.m. after receiving a call reporting Parrish as unconscious, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The medical examiner’s office said her cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, WAVY reported.
Parrish was described as hard-working, kind, strong and loving in an online obituary.
“Her smile, laughter and energy lit up every gathering,” the obituary said.
