Woman’s body found in Ohio pond in 2001, officials say. Husband just arrested
An Ohio man was indicted in connection with the 2001 death of his wife.
Paul Hicks, 50, was charged with three counts of murder and one count of kidnapping, according to court records.
Attorney information for Hicks was not available.
According to the indictment, Paul and Regina Rowe Hicks had a “violent, turbulent relationship” that led to them separating.
On Oct. 18, 2001, Regina Rowe Hicks, 25 years old at the time, left her boyfriend’s home to go pick up her son, according to an April 23 news release from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
But she never made it, officials said.
The next day, Paul Hicks filed for divorce, according to court records.
Then, on Oct. 22, 2001, Regina Rowe Hicks’ body was found inside her car in a pond in Willard, officials said.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been investigating her death since 2013.
Now, Paul Hicks is accused of being the one who killed her.
Officials said Paul Hicks placed Regina Rowe Hicks into the passenger seat of her vehicle while she was unconscious. Then, he drove her car into a pond with the driver side window fully down, according to the indictment.
Regina Rowe Hicks was “alive, unconscious and hunched over” when the car went into the water, officials said.
When she was found, officials said she had fresh bruises on her body, which happened before she died.
Willard is about an 80-mile drive southwest of Cleveland.
