‘Vulnerable’ cat was shot on purpose. Now, Katniss found her happy ending. Meet her
A sweet cat is now living out her happy ending in Pennsylvania after surviving unimaginable cruelty.
Much like her namesake from “The Hunger Games” franchise, Katniss managed to beat the odds and come out on top after experiencing a massive amount of physical pain, the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said in a Dec. 3 Facebook post.
“Beautiful and vulnerable Katniss the cat was found on a doorstep with her leg dangling, broken and bent backward,” the shelter said in the post.
Her leg wasn’t her only injury, though.
“She had been shot,” the group said.
But, that wasn’t the end of Katniss’ story.
“Luckily, she found her way into our care at the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Main Line Animal Rescue (MLAR) site,” the shelter said. “The x-rays revealed bullet fragments scattered throughout her leg, neck, and shoulder. It was clear this wasn’t an accident - someone had intentionally harmed this sweet cat with unthinkable intentions. But, despite everything, Katniss survived.”
Katniss is now safe and sound within the arms of her new family. Along with an x-ray showing bullet fragments in the comment section, the shelter also posted one of Katniss and her new family.
“While the damage to her leg was irreparable, her sweet demeanor remained intact. She may be living life on three legs, but she is doing it in the comfort and love of her forever home,” the shelter continued.
