Mom accused of abusing 3-month-old daughter after twin sister’s death, Texas cops say

A Texas mother is accused of abusing her 3-month-old daughter following the death of the girl’s twin sister, according to Austin police.

First responders went to the home of 31-year-old Brittney Bailey at 11:14 p.m. March 10, for a call about an infant who wasn’t breathing, the Austin Police Department said in a March 27 news release.

Police say “life-saving aid” was given to the girl while at the Revl Apartments, on the city’s north side, then she was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to the department. She died five days later, on March 15, police said.

Officials did not say what may have caused the girl to stop breathing. However, investigators discovered that her surviving twin sister had injuries which appeared to be “non-accidental.”

Police haven’t commented on the extent of the girl’s injuries, but her mother is now facing charges.

“Child Abuse Detectives have arrested and charged Brittney Alisha Bailey, for Injury to a Child, a first-degree felony,” the department said.

So far, no charges have been announced in the death of the other twin.
