A 40-year-old man was found guilty in the 2022 killing of his girlfriend in Utah, federal officials said.

Randy Lansing, 40, “unlawfully, deliberately and intentionally killed his girlfriend, Tammy Clark,” according to a Feb. news release by the district attorney’s office.

In April 2022, Lansing drove from Aneth in Indian Country with Clark, her two daughters and another woman to McElmo Creek, officials said.

Once there, Lansing “parked his blue SUV and started drinking beer” with Clark, officials said.

Then, Lansing is accused of “violently” beating Clark in front of her two daughters and the other woman, officials said.

Clark suffered facial swelling, brain bleeding, cuts to her face, fractured ribs and blunt force trauma to her body, federal officials said.

“The strongest piece of evidence is Tammy Clark’s body. Tammy Clark’s body tells of the brutal beating she experienced during her last moments of life,” U.S. Attorney, Trina A. Higgins, said in the release.

Lansing put Clark’s “beaten body” in the back of his SUV and drove back to Aneth, the district attorney said.

Neighbors called for an ambulance and Clark was taken to a hospital, but she was pronounced dead, prosecutors said.

Lansing’s lawyer declined to comment when McClatchy News reached out on Feb. 16.

Lansing is scheduled to appear in court in May for his sentencing on the second-degree murder charge.

Aneth is about 350 miles southeast of Salt Lake City.
