Accused hit-and-run driver kills 70-year-old crossing road as nephew watched, GA cops say
UPDATE: Georgia deputies have arrested a driver in connection with a crash that killed a 70-year-old man. Agapito Romo Vazquez, 48, is charged with vehicular homicide, felony hit-and-run and driving without a license, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said Oct. 5
Investigators said Vazquez’s car matched the vehicle description and had front-end damage, including a “broken, bloody windshield” that had been replaced.

A 70-year-old man died in front of his nephew when a car hit him and kept going, Georgia deputies say.
The driver remains at large after the Oct. 3 crash in Alpharetta, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Joaquin Vega was crossing the road around 8:30 p.m. when he was struck. His nephew, who was across the street, happened to look up just as he was hit.
Vega died at the scene.
His nephew described the car in question as a small four-door vehicle, “possibly an SUV,” authorities said.
Deputies didn’t release additional details but said the crash is under investigation.
Alpharetta is about 30 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.
