‘Nude beach’ sign at Chicago beach looks official — but it’s a fake, officials say
Beachgoers of a Chicago beach are required to wear clothes — despite what a “cheeky sign” might have told them, officials said.
The sign — with an official Chicago Park District seal — was installed at Loyola Beach, Alderwoman Maria Hadden said in a post she shared to Facebook on Labor Day.
“Nude beach past this sign,” the signage reads.
The sign was reported to the Chicago Park District, she said.
A few hours later, the department said the sign had been removed.
“Please note: Unauthorized use of the Chicago Park District’s seal is strictly prohibited,” the department commented.
Loyola Beach is located along the shore of Lake Michigan in the northeast corner of Illinois.
