Six students taken to hospital after school bus crashes into pole, WV officials say

Six students were transported to a hospital after a school bus crash before school, West Virginia officials say.

A Wayne County Schools bus was transporting student to Fort Gay PK-8 School and Tolsia High School the morning of Monday, Sept. 12 when it left the road and crashed into a power pole, according to a news release from the school district.

After the incident, six students were transported either by parents or ambulance to the hospital to receive evaluation, the release says. None of the reported injuries appeared life-threatening.

The crash left two schools, Fort Gay PK-8 School and Dunlow Elementary school without power. The two schools closed early and students were dismissed at 8:30 am. The district says it expects both schools to resume normal operation on Sept. 13.

West Virginia State Police are investigating the crash.
