A man involved in a collision in Tucson got out of his wrecked Dodge pickup truck, then turned back and fatally shot his 36-year-old girlfriend inside before walking away, Arizona police said.

Joseph Brandon Gourley, 45, faces a murder charge in the 1:52 p.m. incident Friday, July 1, Tucson police said in a news release.

His pickup truck collided with a Kia Soul, injuring the two people inside, before Gourley shot Jessica Garcia, who later died of her injuries at a hospital, police said.

Gourley walked away from the crash, the release said. Police responding to the collision found him in a nearby yard and arrested him.

Police did not say why Gourley shot Garcia.
