Krispy Kreme to match price of dozen doughnuts with price at the pump. What to know
Krispy Kreme will treat fans to a discounted dozen of its classic doughnuts, making life a bit sweeter for motorists facing high prices at the gas pump.
Every Wednesday, the Charlotte-based doughnut chain will set the price of its Original Glazed dozen to match the national price per gallon of gas at the start of the week, according to a news release.
The classic doughnuts, which typically sell for at least $11.49 a dozen, will be offered at a discount April 3 through May 4. The national average for a gallon of regular gas reached $4.09 as of Tuesday, April 12, according to AAA.
“Inflation and high gasoline prices are serious and forcing families to make tough tradeoffs,” Dave Skena, chief marketing officer for Krispy Kreme, said in a statement. “We know that despite the high gas prices people have to be out and about anyway. So, for the next several Wednesdays, we hope providing a little doughnut deflation will allow them to share some smiles during a difficult time.”
Guests can grab up to two dozen glazed doughnuts, each for the price of a gallon of regular gas, at participating Krispy Kreme stores nationwide, according to the release.
Orders can also be placed at the drive-thru, or ahead of time via the Krispy Kreme app.
The national average for a gallon of regular gas has dropped 3 cents since Monday, according to the latest report from AAA. Industry experts expect the national average will continue to fall as more nations plan to tap into their oil reserves.
