An 18-year-old man’s forgotten math homework was his undoing in a deadly home invasion case, Las Vegas police said.

Kamari Oliver faces charges including murder, robbery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and home invasion with a deadly weapon, Las Vegas police said in a news release.

Police said Oliver and two other armed men invaded a Las Vegas home at 2:10 p.m. March 25 for a targeted robbery, but a woman inside exchanged gunfire with them.

The intruders shot her repeatedly and police found her dead at the scene, the release said.

A man arriving home spotted the intruders fleeing and used his vehicle to ram their white Mercedes sedan into a wall, police said. The home invaders ran away.

Officers investigating the incident found a backpack containing math homework with Oliver’s name on it in the abandoned vehicle, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

He was arrested March 28 at his high school, The Associated Press said. Police also found $5,000 cash in the vehicle.
