A fisherman’s “gruesome” discovery set off an Indiana search when the angler accidentally dropped the catch back into the water.

The Hobart Fire Department was called to Lake George for what officials thought would be a human rescue on March 13, but the fisherman’s find wasn’t exactly as it seemed.

Because what those firefighters rescued wasn’t actually human but rather a Halloween skeleton decoration, according to a Facebook post from the department.

“That is scary but awesome at the same time,” one person replied. “That would be a even better halloween decoration now and would look awesome.”

“Well I’m glad it wasn’t someone’s loved one! Gosh! I’d of peed my pants!” said another. “Made me giggle tho.”

“Glad it was decoration’s, but good to know we have a fine group who can get things out of the lake,” another comment says.

Lake George is in northwest Indiana.
