A California meteorologist had an extra-special Valentine’s Day this year.

Mary Lee, a meteorologist with KPIX in San Francisco, was taping a segment on the Northern Lights when her boyfriend’s two daughters, Mirium and Madi, appeared on set, each with a rose in hand, KPIX reported.

“Oh my goodness!” Lee said, wrapping the girls up in hugs, a video shared by KPIX shows.

Then, her boyfriend, Ajit Ninan, entered the frame and also gave Lee a hug.

“Oh, I’m gonna cry,” Lee said.

But the surprise continued – Ninan then got down on one knee, and Lee began to cry even before he popped the question.

“Mary, you’re my Northern Lights,” Ninan said as the lights danced on the screen behind him. “You light up my life in the most spectacular, beautiful ways. The girls adore you and I love you, and I want you to be part of our family.”

Lee continued to cry tears of joy as Ninan slipped the ring onto her finger, the video showed.

In a segment filmed after the proposal, Lee teared up again as she recounted the events of the day.

“It was just so unexpected,” Lee said, adding that staff at KPIX had been dropping hints about the proposal beforehand. “I didn’t even see it coming from a mile away.”

“We helped to orchestrate this for a long time,” anchor Len Kiese said. “Took a lot of teamwork, but we’re so glad it finally came to fruition.”

The staff even had a secret code name for the plan, according to the HuffPost – “Operation Marry Mary.”

What makes the proposal even more special, according to anchor Amanda Starrantino, is that Lee always wanted to go to the Northern Lights herself.

“You keep saying that’s how you wanted to be proposed to,” Starrantino said.

“He made it happen, and it was incredible,” Lee said. “I am still on a high, I’m still in shock for sure. Now we have a wedding to plan.”
