Customers showing up to a Boston Market to pick up their food for Thanksgiving were left empty-handed, as the workers at the California restaurant did not show up to fulfill orders.

“No employees showing up today... We are unable to fulfill the orders!!! We are sorry!!!” read the sign posted on the door of the Boston Market in Rancho Cucamonga, photos show.

Customers were not given advance warning and many were forced to scramble to find food for Thanksgiving.

“I was really hoping to take it easy this Thanksgiving, not have to make a whole dinner for the family,” Joseph Amato told The Orange County Register. “Now I have to find a Plan B.”

This is very upsetting, very upsetting,” Adam Sharp told KTLA. “We have 12 people we have to feed right now and you can literally see the food inside the store and we can’t get to it. This is outrageous. No phone call, they’ve charged our card $400.”

It’s unclear how many customers did not receive their Thanksgiving orders. Other Boston Market locations remained open nationwide and offered traditional Thanksgiving food.

A spokesperson for Boston Market said in a statement to McClatchy News the restaurant is in the process of refunding customers in Rancho Cucamonga and is looking into what happened with the workers.

“We are investigating the cause of this issue,” Boston Market said in the statement. “We sincerely apologize to every guest who placed an order and came to the restaurant.”
