Porn video briefly runs during live TV weather forecast, Washington police say

Viewers tuning into the weather forecast on KREM’s evening newscast Sunday got more than they expected when an explicit video briefly ran during the segment, Washington police say.

“It was a short video segment, generally described as a small portion of the screen, showing a separate image from the newscast of what appeared to be a possibly pornographic or explicit image,” Spokane police said in a news release.

Police said they received numerous calls from viewers about the 6:30 p.m. Pacific time incident, with the video lasting about 10 seconds.

The clip, which appeared to show a nude woman from behind, showed up over the shoulder of meteorologist Michelle Boss while she gave her initial report, AdWeek reported. Neither she nor the news anchor reacted to the video on-air.

Anne Bentley, vice president and chief communications officer at TEGNA, which owns KREM, said the station apologized in its 11 p.m. newscast, The Spokesman-Review reported.

“We are diligently working to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again,” Bentley said in an email to the publication. She did not explain how the mishap occurred.

Police are investigating with the station’s help, according to police.
